God’s love is a love that can be hard for us to get our heads around. It’s a love like we’ve never experienced from any human. It’s a love that can’t be quenched. It’s an inescapable, unending and unfailing kind of love. Nothing, and no one, can separate us from the love of God: ‘For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord’ (Romans 8:38-39 NIV). Even when we think we’ve made far too many mistakes and mess-ups, when we feel insecure about who we are and struggle to love ourselves, let alone believe that God could possibly love us: His love remains. It’s there no matter what we’re feeling, thinking or believing and it never, ever gives up on us. There’s nothing we can do to earn this incredible love. There’s no need for us to perform to win His affection. We already have it. Just as we are. In a world that’s constantly telling us that we’re not enough, that we need to be more before we can be accepted and loved by others, we can be encouraged by the fact that we’re good enough in God’s eyes. You’re loved by the Creator of the world and nothing can take His love away from you.
What Now?
Get some plain chocolate and some white chocolate. Put them in a bowl together and melt them in the microwave. Try and separate them – impossible, right? Just like you and God’s love. Now enjoy your melted chocolate.
