Have a think about this: if God gave you everything you’re praying for right now, would you be ready for it? Nothing great is created suddenly. Your destiny doesn’t arrive overnight. And neither does failure. Each is a process. The fact is every day of your life is preparation for the next. Think about ants – they’re small, but smart: they ‘store up food all summer’ (v. 25 NLT). At the time of year when they’ve got plenty, they work extra-hard to save some of it for winter, when food is scarce. Then when winter finally comes, their hard work pays off and they know they can safely survive through the difficult times. They understand that to prepare for tomorrow, they need to use today’s time and resources wisely. Have you ever revised so thoroughly for an exam that you walked into the classroom with absolute confidence, knowing you were completely prepared for anything that exam paper could throw at you? (If so: well done! Tell us how you did it.) We need to bring that same confidence to everyday life. And we can do that by preparing. That could involve anything from investing time in prayer with God, while we have the time to give more than an hour a day to Him, to saving a little money each week to buy something we know we’ll need in the future. So, ask yourself: ‘What am I prepping for? What’s God guiding me towards? How can I use my time and resources now so I can be better prepared for the plans God has for me in future?’

What now?
Set aside a few minutes today to do a task that’ll help you tomorrow. It could be something like getting tomorrow’s lunch ready or choosing the clothes you’re going to wear. Think what simple thing you could do that’ll make tomorrow a bit easier.
