Here are three truths from Scripture that can help strengthen our faith: First, believe that God is real. The New King James Version of the Bible translates Hebrews 11:6 as ‘believe that He is.’ It’s forceful language that’s much more than a vague acknowledgment of God’s existence. There’s no room for doubt in a statement like that. Many different religions claim there are lots of gods, but the God of the Bible isn’t one of them – or even the best of them. He’s the only true God! And this Scripture says He is uniquely, genuinely, permanently present and active. Second, believe that God is able. When two blind men came to Jesus for healing, He asked, ‘“Do you believe that I am able to do this?” “Yes, Lord,” they replied. Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you”’ (Matthew 9:28-29 NIV). Immediately, they could see. Jesus knew He was able to heal them, but He wanted them to know He was able. Until we truly believe in God’s ability to meet our needs, our prayers will lack confidence and we’ll find it difficult to trust Him. Third, believe that God is willing. After knowing He is able, we must take a step of belief. A leper approached Jesus saying, ‘“Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” Jesus…touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed’ (Matthew 8:2-3 NASB). God is willing to help us – His Word even says, ‘he rewards those who truly want to find him.’ That leaves no room for doubt. Today, let’s be thankful to our true, real God, who is able and willing to love and help us.
