When King David and his men returned home from battle, they discovered the Amalekites had burned down their homes and taken their families prisoner. They were devastated. They wept until they’d no tears left. Then God spoke to them and said, ‘Pursue…overtake…and…recover all.’ And with His help they did. Maybe the situation you’re in right now looks bad, but, don’t give up. It’s okay to have a cry if you need to, but then draw on God’s strength and face your problems head-on. Take it one step at a time, always drawing on His strength and not your own. Paul wrote: ‘Let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint’ (Galatians 6:9 AMP). God won’t give up on you, so don’t give up on Him. He’s already promised: ‘When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD, your God’ (Isaiah 43:2-3 NIV). Don’t give up – go through. Giving up is easy, but it takes faith to go through. When your faith honours God, He honours your faith. And with Him on your side you’ll come out stronger.
