Think back to the last big decision you had to make. Maybe you prayed about it, talked to others, went with what you felt God was saying and now feel great. You just know, deep down, that you made the right choice. You’ve got peace. Or maybe it worked the other way. You made a decision but now you’re feeling kind of uneasy, something isn’t quite sitting right, and you definitely don’t have that feeling of peace. Colossians 3 says, ‘…let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts’ (v.15). When we let God lead us, we can have this peace even when we’re facing tough times. He knows which way you should go and what would be best for you. Sometimes we can make decisions and have a sense of peace that wasn’t real. We can get so caught up in excitement and desire to do something that we feel that it’s the right thing to do. As the excitement wears off, so does that feeling of peace. So, it’s really important to not rush decisions and to make sure we’re chatting the options through with God first. The Bible says, ‘To be controlled by the Spirit results in…peace.’ Once you’ve heard from God, know what to do and feel peaceful about it, it’s time to keep that peace going and not let anxiety creep in. God tells us to ‘not be anxious about anything’ but instead pray and His peace will fill our hearts and minds (Philippians 4: 6-7).

What now?
Today pray the Lord’s Prayer. As you’re praying, concentrate on really allowing God’s kingdom to be present in every part of your life and decisions.
