In order to fight fear, we need to believe that God is with us. If we can keep focused on that, we’ll have much more confidence in obeying what He’s telling us to do, and our fears will get smaller and smaller, until we see them as insignificant compared to God’s power.. When David volunteered to fight Goliath, King Saul said to him, ‘You are not able to go against this Philistine…for you are a youth, and he a man of war from his youth’ (1 Samuel 17:33 NKJV). David replied, ‘The Lord…will deliver me from…this Philistine’ (v. 37 NKJV). We’re not in the battle alone; our heavenly Father is with us. When we’re certain of that in our minds, our fears will soon go away. We might not always know what God will do, but we can relax knowing that He’ll do what needs to be done at the right time. When we think about the future and all the unknowns it holds for us, it’s easy to feel afraid. But there are two ways we can look at it; we can either be pessimistic and fearful, or we can say, ‘The battle is God’s, and He’s never lost a battle!’ Even if we haven’t any idea what to do in a tense situation, God does. He knows everything before it happens, and He’s planned a way through for us. |We just need put one foot in front of the other, taking one step at a time, confident that He’s our guide. We don’t have to see God or feel Him in order to believe that He’s with us. Faith is a matter of the heart rather than the natural senses. God is with us and He loves us too much to leave us to deal with fear by ourselves! So let’s believe Him and refuse to live in fear.
